I've been busy this year preparing a ministry that I am super-excited about. The Prayer Clinic is an intercessory prayer ministry that will mobilize your church to pray.
As I've written books and taught on prayer and spiritual warfare, I've realized that the church doesn't need to study prayer more, she needs to just PRAY MORE! I'm convinced that when we pray, God works. I'm also convinced that when we don't pray, we miss a whole lot of what God has promised He will do for us.
You're familiar with 2 Chronicles 7:14,
"If my people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves, pray and seek my face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land."
Our land is not well. Many of our churches are not well. Our brothers and sisters are not well. I know that when the church begins to pray, the healing will follow. That's why I am dedicated to this exciting ministry.
The Prayer Clinic is a healing ministry. It's a ministry of healing to those who are sick, those who are wounded by broken relationships, those who are addicted to substances that will kill them, and to those who are discouraged. Through The Prayer Clinic, people who dare to believe that God hears and answers us when we pray, actually pray with people who are hurting enough to let them. Just the act of praying together is honoring to the LORD and comforting to those who are hurting.
But we don't anticipate merely comforting the afflicted. No! We anticipate God proving Himself faithful as He hears and answers us when we pray! Already we've seen that God honors His Word and faithfully keeps every one of His promises--even those that seem bodacious.
When church members see that God does, indeed, hear and answer us when we pray, they begin praying about everything--not just the heartbreaking things! And the more they pray, the more God answers.
For me personally, The Prayer Clinic is the culmination of all the work I've done in ministry. You may not know this about me, but I started in full-time ministry as a state consultant for missions organizations in our church's denomination. In that role, I became a curriculum writer. Out of curriculum writing, I began writing prayer studies (mostly for women), and out of those studies came my books and my speaking/teaching ministry. Today I serve Thompson Station Church alongside my pastor-husband, Tom, as the prayer minister. I am directing our Prayer Clinic ministry there.
When I was diagnosed with cancer (the 2nd time), I heard a doctor tell me that I had less than a 40% chance of being alive 5 years from that date. That was in 2012. I'm still alive, and even my oncologist had to look to see how to proceed with me as a survivor of "stage 4 colon cancer." Perhaps it's because I've faced my mortality, or because I had an encounter with God where He assured me that my stay on earth was purposeful, that I have this certainty that The Prayer Clinic is what I am here (on earth) to do. This is my magnum opus.
